Dear Parents/Students:
We need ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who is willing to come out and be trained. The Uniform Coordinator from Legacy High School has agreed to train us on the appropriate way to alter our band uniforms to give our kids a customized fit. She was trained last summer by someone from the company that supplies our band uniforms. We are getting our training at a much cheaper rate and we should make the most of this opportunity! As I mentioned, we need ANYBODY and EVERYBODY (aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, friends, etc.) to come out and help.
The training on July 10 will include something for everyone - measuring, marking, pinning, sewing. Student leaders are being asked to come out and be our guinea pigs. They will be fitted for their uniforms at that time. It will be hands-on training.
If you can't make the training, you will still be needed! We need people who feel comfortable working a sewing machine and those who prefer to use a needle and thread ... from the novice (that's me!) to the expert. Each uniform ... remember we have 176 in band right now ... has to have elastic sewn on the legs so they stay taut ... 176 x 2 = 352 legs ... WOW!!! There's also buttons and snaps that need to be replaced.
I will also need LOTS of volunteers the week of July 19 through 23 (Monday through Friday) from 1pm to 3pm. This is uniform fitting week for the band. Each afternoon a different class of students will be outfitted (Seniors on Monday, Juniors on Tuesday, Sophomores on Wednesday, Freshmen and New Members on Thursday and Friday).
Together we can make OUR kids look as good as they sound!
