COMMENTS FROM OUR BAND PARENTS

The Timberview HS band has afforded our son not only the opportunity to expand his skills as a musician but to grow as a person.  The life skills, taught by two of the most capable teachers in our community, Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant, include self discipline, respect for others, respect for self, compassion, responsibility, tolerance and patience, as well as how to perform with skill, pride and passion. In the band hall all backgrounds are embraced these kids not only respect each other ..they love each other.  They have proven in under two years of existence that common goals when fostered by great teachers, a very supportive administration and caring families out distance gossip and "trouble" every time. We encourage the middle school parents to check out our band program, visit the band hall, or talk to the families of the kids already involved. The Timberview band program will be one your child's most positive and best remembered high school experiences.                            Keith and Gail Wilhelm

Band has been great for my Daughter. Under Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant's direction she has learned perseverance, dedication, responsibility and moral courage. She has thoroughly enjoyed band and as a result has improved in other areas of her schoolwork. I highly recommend participation in the band.                                                                                                                      Gregory DeBlois

The Timberview High School Band Program has been a positive and rewarding experience for our daughter. Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant are truly dedicated to teaching the kids, not only to be outstanding musicians, but encouraging and teaching them to be fine young citizens with life skills to thrive and excel in their future. Responsibility, discipline, respect and integrity are the cornerstones of their curricula with honor, courage and commitment as their foundation. To witness the unity of their students, from very diverse backgrounds, culminating into one band with one agenda is poetry in sound and motion. We encourage your student and you to become involved in the Timberview Band Program - it is a great place to be!!                                                                            Gerry and Vikki Cummings

My daughter Jessicka Rocha has learned so much and I don't mean just music. Thank you Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant for that. She has been able to personify the excellence we seek in our society: perseverance, dedication, discipline, person strength, leadership and integrity. But even though its hard work, she has still managed to have a lot of fun, especially in the stands, on the bus, and on trips. This will always be an experience she will remembers for the rest of her life. I am so proud of her accomplishments.                                                                                                    Jessicka's Mom

The memories that Jessicka Rocha takes from Band will always be with her and if not we will remind her with the pictures that we have. What are parents for.                                      Jessicka's Dad and Mom

We have two boys in the Timberview band and it has been a great experience for both of them. The Timberview Band, like any team, teaches how to work together for a common goal. This discipline and work ethic bleed over into other areas of school teaches them many life lessons that they will use beyond High School. Our boys are involved in band because they have fun. They enjoy being involved in the band competitions, but also the social events provided for band members such as the Halloween dance, Band banquet and spring band trip. They enjoy being with the other students in band, not only during school, but also hanging out after-school and on weekends. They are a great group of kids! They admire and respect the band directors. The band directors treat the students with respect and encourage them to be their very best in all areas of their lives. We, as parents have been extremely happy with the band program at Timberview and encourage other parents to check out the program and get their students involved.                                                                         Chuck and Susan Hanson

My daughter is a Freshman at Timberview this year. She attended Danny Jones last year. My husband and I had our concerns about Timberview after reading things in the paper and hearing the negative rumors. In fact, this time last year we were considering selling our home and moving into the Mansfield High zone. We decided to give Timberview a try for a year. I AM SO GLAD WE DID!!!!!!!! This has been a great year for my daughter. She loves band and the friends she has made. Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant are both caring professionals who strive for their students to do their best. This is done by giving the students goals and guidelines. Band at Timberview is more than another elective. I encourage you to encourage your child to join the Timberview Band. Give Timberview a chance - you won't regret it!                                                                                                                       Jenny Holsomback

Band is the best thing that could have happened to our son. Upon entering High School band provided an instant circle of friends with common interests. With the first activity being marching season the competitive nature creates a closeness that forms lasting friendships and eases the shock from middle school to high school. Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant are top notch Directors and it is obvious their dedication is to the development of their students, not only as musicians, but also to their becoming productive citizens. My son, Preston, is proud to be a part of such a fine organization as the Timberview Band and as Band Parents so are we. The sad part is he will be a Senior this year, it passes quickly! Involve yourself with your child, you will not regret it.                Tim and Cheryl Sloniger

WOW, where do I begin...First, thank you Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant for the leadership. You are more of a role model for the students than you may realize. The time, discipline, and life lessons, that you have given my son is priceless. I regret daily that I am not there to experience everything first hand, but, please know that not one day goes by that a prayer is not said for the teachers and students. Sean shares his good days and bad days with me. He has learned far more than just music could have every taught him. Because of your leadership he is better able to face the world. Thanks for everything.                                                             Charlene Rowell, the proud mother of Sean Rowell

All of the above! Great Program. Great Directors. Great Kids. Great Parent Volunteers. If you are considering becoming part of THB, I whole-heartedly encourage you to do so.                      The Steffys

Band has been a wonderful experience for me; it is so much fun, from colorguard in marching season to my clarinet in concert season. Meeting new people, making lots of friends, that you will cherish your band moments with, its awesome. Band trips are awesome, you get to hang out with all your friends.  But Best of all is the Band Directors Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant, they are the best Band Directors I have ever had and I'm glad to spend my band high school years with them.                     Kandi Brooks

My daughter, Kandi, has had lots of fun being in the Timberview Band. Its fun watching your kid on the filed doing what she likes to do (colorguard) I've supported her all the way. The Band Directors have been great, too, she says nothing but good things about them all the time, and I'm glad that they are her Band Directors. I'm glad she is having fun doing what she loves. The memories will always be her heart.                                                                                                                                 Kathryn

The band program has been a great experience for our daughter, Brytish. The leadership that Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant have portrayed everyday have encouraged her to show that in herself. Now when we ask Brytish where she is going, and she responds by saying, "to the band hall," or "to hang out with the bandys," we know that she is safe and is learning valuable lessons, not only in music but in life. Thank you Mr. Martinez, Mr. Bryant and all that help our daughter grow within the band program and in life.                                                                                                                    The Jordan's

Where do I begin......there is not enough room for me to express how I feel about the band program and directors at Timberview High School, however, I will try. The best times that I have experienced since moving here to Texas has been the time spent with the parents, band students and band directors of Timberview. I was so afraid after moving to Mansfield and hearing of all the turmoil in this district, and was about cancel plans of moving here, but I am so glad that I didn't. Timberview Band, Mr. Martinez and Mr. Bryant, thank you for everything. Chauncey and I love you all. This has been the best 2 years and now going on the third year here in Texas. The band has been an awesome learning experience for Chauncey...both musically and general life knowledge in relating to people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. The kids are awesome, and they truly love each other. I love all of them, and look forward to each school year, not to mention marching season. Thank you Mr. Martinez, Mr. Bryant, Timberview administration, parents and band students for the love and support that you give daily. It is an awesome program because of your dedication, talent and sincere love and affection that is given and shown daily. You have and will always have my untiring support, love and dedication. Thank you!!!!               Lori Love

Timberview Band Community, I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was with your halftime show on Friday night. I had the pleasure of being in the press box to watch your show, and y'all looked and sounded absolutely fantastic! It is obvious that you have worked long and hard on your show and you have every reason to be proud of your accomplishments. Continue that hard work and I looked forward to seeing your show again at UIL contest.                     Bill Tillotson, President Summit Band Boosters
