Paul Heuer Announcement To Timberview Band Family

Timberview Band Students and Parents,

There has been new development in my family life and I will not be returning next year to Timberview High School.  As of yesterday, my wife has accepted a job at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and we will be moving across town much as she did for me when I first came to Timberview.  This is a huge promotion for her and one that will lead to even more opportunities within the University setting.

With that (as I have to work too), I have been named the Director of Bands and Instrumental music for Lovejoy ISD.  Lovejoy is a small district in the Allen area and I will be the band director and administrator of all Instrumental activities (Band and Orchestra) from 6-12th grade.  While that program currently has not achieved what we have done here at Timberview, I hope that one day it can.

I have enjoyed my time here and the relationships with parents and students I have experienced will always be close to my heart.  This does not have to be goodbye for anyone that does not want to say that! Dr. Gibbs from Sam Houston State University, who gave a clinic to our Top band today for example, was my High School band director for only one year, and I have remained close to him for 25 years….and that was before the internet and email!

We told next year’s leaders today after school that it is their job to make sure next year is the best ever and realize that a director, myself included, does not make or break a band program.  A director will never play one note or march one step.  It is all about the students, and none of you are leaving!  We have created something special in the Timberview Wolf Band and this is YOUR band and will continue to remain that way.  Remember, different is not necessarily bad, just different..so please give your new director your all as you all did for me when I got here if there are any changes asked of you.

I am sure there will be plenty of questions and I am here to make sure everyone feels settled before we go away for the summer.  We have put a great show together for next year that is all yours and that will be all done and ready to go for next year’s run for State!

Let’s continue to have a great end to the school year!

I look forward to hearing many great things from the Timberview Band in the future!

Best Regards,

Paul Heuer
