Timberview Band is happy to announce that a new Percussion Director, Daniel Neimeyer, has been hired and just came onboard at the beginning of Summer Band Camp! Mr. Neimeyer has been busy working with all the percussion students in both the battery and the pit as they work on the new 2014 THS Band Marching Show. Here is a brief bio on Mr. Neimeyer so that you can get to know a little more about his background and experience. We look forward to great things as he shares his skill and experiences in helping to make the 2014 Timberview Band and Percussion group a great success! Daniel Neimeyer – Brief Biography
Daniel Neimeyer is a freelance percussionist, adjudicator, arranger, composer, consultant, designer, educator and performer in the North Texas Metroplex.
For twelve years Dan performed with six various Midwest Drum and Bugle Corps, the last six years dedicated to playing Quads in the Madison Scouts from Madison, Wisconsin. Dan marched with the corps when they won the 1988 DCI World Championships. He frequently performed in the individual Quad competition at DCI (often placing in the top 5), and was the 1992 Drum Corps Midwest Champion.
While attending the University of North Texas, Dan performed with many of the campus ensembles, including the percussion ensemble, wind symphony and symphonic band, African and Brazilian ensembles as well as the steel drum band. During his time at UNT, Dan performed with the highly acclaimed North Texas Drum Line. With Dan playing Quads each year, the drum line won the Percussive Arts Society World Championship in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994. UNT won the Best Quads award in 1989, 1990 and 1995. In 1991, Dan was awarded the Quad Solo Champion during PASIC competitions held in Anaheim, California. In 1996, Dan was on the UNT staff when the North Texas Drum Line won the 10th PASIC World Championship, including Best Quad Line.
As an educator, Dan taught the Madison Scouts Drum Line from 1993 to 2003 under Jeff Moore and James Yakas.
Continuing his career as an educator, Dan was the drum line arranger and instructor for the University of Central Florida from 2000 to 2003. He also worked with the Timber Creek High School drumline for the 2002 and 2003 fall seasons. Dan was also a performer at Disney’s EPCOT Center in the “Tapestry of Nations” parade.
Dan has been involved with Colleyville Heritage High School since the school opened in 1996. He was on staff under Arjuna Contreras from 1996-1998, teaching the drum line, Brazilian ensemble and various other percussion groups, while also teaching privately at CHHS, Heritage Middle School, and Grapevine Middle School. Dan served as the Percussion Coordinator for CHHS, HMS and GMS from 1999 until 2000. During this time, CHHS performed in their only state marching competition. Dan returned to CHHS in the fall of 2004, under percussion director Jeff Ausdemore. In the fall of 2006 CHHS competed in the Percussive Arts Societies International Convention and received 3rd place overall and awarded best Quad line. In the fall of 2008, the CHHS drumline won the Percussive Arts Society indoor marching competition and received best Quads in a show which Dan co-wrote and arranged with Chad Gibson. From the fall of 2004 until the fall of 2009 the CHHS Tenor line had been undefeated in capturing the best section trophy in every competition that awarded such an honor. CHHS again reclaimed the best Quad line award at the 2011 Lone Star competition and at the 2012 Percussive Arts Society competition in Austin TX.
Dan has also been teaching in the Northwest ISD since 2009. Dan has worked with the drum line, percussion ensemble and Brazilian ensemble. Dan has been co-arranging, designing and conceptualizing the marching drumline show with percussion director Chad Gibson under GibMeyer productions, including the 2010 “Calendar”, 2011 “Train” and 2012 “Northwest Speedway” shows.
Dan has also worked with the University of Texas at Arlington drumline, the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corp, been a drummer for the Cutting Edge Haunted House and performed with the Dallas Mavericks drumline. He is also the head percussion judge/adjudicator for the North Texas Color Guard Association indoor drumline circuit.
Dan is an educator/endorser for ProMark sticks and mallets, and is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association. He currently writes the music and plays Quads with the Dallas Cowboys ‘Rhythm & Blue’ drumline and plays drum set with the 80’s cover band ScanT out of Mansfield Texas.
