The Timberview Wolf Band has another busy week ahead with our normal rehearsal schedule, our third Marching Band contest of the season at Carrollton and a road football game against District 7-5A rival and state ranked, DeSoto Eagles in a battle for first place.
The Wolf Band performed at the HEB Marching contest last Saturday and they turned in another strong performance to place 2nd in the 5A catagory while taking caption awards in Music Presentation and Best Percussion in class 5A.
Rehearsal schedule: Regular band rehearsals this week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 11th, is a student holiday, but we will have a brief rehearsal before we head out to DeSoto. Parents please make sure your band student is at the THS Band Hall by 3 p.m. We will have a short one-hour practice beginning at 3:30 p.m. and then prepare for our normal day game dinner and inspection agenda.
Tuesday, October 8th, is our monthly THS Band Parents Booster Board of Directors Meeting at 6 p.m. in the THS Band Hall followed by the Band Parents Booster General Meeting at 7 p.m. Remember, you can earn a volunteer point by simply attending the General Meeting, so we hope to see many of you in attendance to learn more whats going on with the band events and operations. The meeting is brief and usually lasts no more than 45 minutes.
Friday, October 11th, is big District 7-5A football game and marching band performance with THS going up against DeSoto High at DeSoto ISD Eagle Stadium, 600 Eagle Drive in DeSoto for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Wolves seek to stay perfect on their 5-0 start as they battle the Eagles for first place in district play. Game day details and agenda will be posted on Thursday.
Saturday, October 12th, is our third Marching Band Contest of the season as we compete in the 19th annual Carrollton Tournament of Champions Marching Band Contest. The Tournament of Champions (TOC) is a prelims/finals format where respected adjudicators in their music field will judge each band in music, marching, general effect, as well as caption awards for Drum Major, Percussion and Color Guard. Bands are grouped according to school size and awards are given for Outstanding Marching; Outstanding Music; Outstanding General Effect; Outstanding Color Guard; Outstanding Percussion; Outstanding Drum Major and a top Finalist Places, 1-10.
The contest schedule and agenda for the day will be sent out later this week from the THS Band website. This contest will be held at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Standridge Stadium at 1330 Valwood Parkway in Carrollton. Timberview will be competing against 20 or more top bands in the region. With your admissions to the contest you will receive a wrist band entrance ticket that will allow you to come and go and come back during the day and to be there for the specific Timberview performances and awards ceremonies. Contest schedule and details will be posted later this week.
